The Rupert & Rothschild partnership was formed in 1997 by the late Dr Anton Rupert of South Africa and the late Baron Edmond de Rothschild of France. Their vision and guiding principles were carried forward by their sons, the late Anthonij Rupert and Baron Benjamin de Rothschild. Today the Rupert family and Baron Benjamin de Rothschild share this prestigious partnership in wine production.
The ideal candidate holds a BSc in Viticulture and Oenology along with at least ten years’ winemaking and management experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Afrikaans and English), in-depth knowledge of premium wine production as well as appropriate sales, marketing and financial management experience are prerequisites. Experience with Bordeaux style winemaking, international wine awards, a connectedness to Rupert & Rothschild’s target customer base, distribution channels and grower base as well as excellent computer (MS Office and Navision) and presentation skills will further count in the applicant’s favour.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Board and will be responsible for the general management, productivity and profitability of the entire business, including, but not limited to the following key performance areas:
• Production management
• Strategic and risk management
• Financial management and budgeting
• Sales and marketing management
• Stakeholder management
• Human resource management
• General farm estate management
• Environmental care and community development initiatives.
A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
