A Skilled individual is required to conduct all fermentation and distillation activities at the company. These tasks will either be performed or overseen by the Distiller and those working with him/her. This includes, but is not limited to, all paperwork and regulatory documentation connected to the production of alcoholic beverages and management of distillery staff, logistical planning arrangements for the supply of raw materials for the production products, the production/blending/packing of products themselves, the supply of products to clients, and any other similar tasks the directors of the company might require from time to time.
The manufacture of distilled alcoholic products.
Operation and maintenance of fermentation and distillation equipment. Careful record-keeping and data capturing for all production processes. Rudimentary analytical work related to production processes. General running of distillery (incl. housekeeping etc.). Stock management. SARS excise duty compliance (monthly, in cooperation with company accountant). Product blending (when required). Finishing of products (e.g. filtration). Oversee product packing/labelling.
B.Sc. or B.Tech. qualification, preferably in agricultural or physical/chemical sciences. A keen eye for detail and an appreciation of distilled alcoholic beverages essential. Prior distillation experience preferential, but not required. Excise documentation experience preferential, but not required. Due to the nature of the work this post has unusual hours and requires a dedicated individual with a strong sense of responsibility. The candidate must also be able to function independently and able to perform all functions without supervision. Good computer literacy (Microsoft Excel/Word) is essential. Reading and writing skills in both Afrikaans and English is required, as is a Code 8 driver’s license.
A market related remuneration package, which includes permanent accommodation for up to 2 individuals in a guest cottage (unfurnished, water, electricity and included) on the farm near Tesselaarsdal is offered.
