Horticulturist Vacancy Wine Estate Stellenbosch

A well-known Stellenbosch Wine Estate requires a hard working individual to lead, manage and work with a team.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

– The hands-on planning, design, installation and maintenance of beds, grassed areas, shrubbery, trees and parking areas all around Jordan Wine Estate.
– Responsible for year-round propagating, grooming and maintenance of the plants, trees, parking areas and gardens on Jordan Wine Estate.
– Landscape maintenance would include tree removal and pruning where necessary, hedge and shrub pruning, operating power tools: lawnmower, leaf blower, edge trimmer and chain saw.
– Maintaining the cleanliness of assigned areas by mechanical or hand methods.
– Supervising the dead-heading of flowers and weeding of beds.
– The horticulturalist should have good plant knowledge and be a hands-on landscaper, with a thorough knowledge of plant propagation and cultivation;
– Small nursery establishment;
– The establishment and maintenance of a small nursery for growing potted plants/propagation of seedlings and cuttings of plants;
– Irrigation and waste water monitoring.
Supervision of staff will be required and previous team management essential.
