Our client, Vinpro seeks to appoint a Junior Viticulturist to assist with the development of the new Gen Z: Vineyard Project as a member of the consultation team in Paarl.
This unique opportunity is ideally suited to a BSc Agric graduate (Viticulture/Oenology or Agrology) with at least two years’ working experience. Essential attributes for this role are computer literacy, social media know-how and good communication, relationship and presentation skills (PowerPoint and presenting to an audience).
The successful candidate will assist with the following:
- In conjunction with Vinpro’s regional vineyard consultants and other viticulturists and researchers, establish new demonstration vineyard sites at farms. This includes the planning, layout, training and all relevant logistics of these demo sites
- Measurement and evaluation of the demo sites, which entails detailed recordings of measurements/data and the processing of such data and findings for recommendation purposes. The outcomes will be shared via technology transfer such as producer days, articles in relevant periodicals, on the project website/social media and during presentations at information sessions.
- The successful candidate will initially be appointed on a two-year contract basis to run with the project lifespan, but permanent appointment thereafter is a possibility.
