Reporting to the Cellar Master, this key Viticultural position forms an integral part of our Spier wine making team.
The incumbent will be responsible for all grape procurement. From securing best possible vineyard sites; contracting with current and prospective new growers; ensuring farm and vineyard practices meet our ethical, quality and environmental standards; advise and implement best possible viticultural practices that support agreed quality and price points. Ensure that wine making philosophies and strategies are implemented in the vineyards.
The senior viticulturist will also be directly accountable for two of Spier’s farms, including budgeting, leading and planning, along with our farm managers.
Applicants must have a degree or diploma in viticulture and have at least 5 years management experience in viticulture. This position requires extensive travelling between vineyards. Your own vehicle and a valid driver’s license are essential.
