A leading grower, packer and exporter of fresh fruit (citrus and table grapes) in South Africa. Our production units are situated across the Western Cape, with our head office in Bellville near Cape Town. The company has a vacancy for a junior production manager at Mandaryn (citrus) close to Riviersonderend. The position will report to the farm manager and is available immediately.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Production
• Planting of citrus
• Irrigation scheduling
• Application of fertilizer
• Pest and plague control
• Weed control
• Pruning
• Harvesting
• Monitoring
• All manipulations
Personnel and administration
• Labor planning and management
• Recordkeeping
• Transport and accommodation planning
• Maintenance (equipment / orchards / general)
Financial
• Cost control by focusing on productivity
Any other related duty that might be required from time to time.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Matric with a tertiary qualification in agriculture
• Up to five years’ experience in the cultivation of citrus
• Knowledge of production practices
• Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
• Driver’s license
• Administrative and communication skills
