Winemaker/General Manager Vacancy South Africa

Well Known International wine company with its business unit in South Africa is seeking a highly motivated, professional individual to fulfil the position of Head Winemaker and General Manager. The candidate will be working independently to craft our diversified wine portfolio and to grow our wine program. As the Head Winemaker/Manager, the candidate should be prepared to participate in and have passion for all aspects of winemaking, sourcing, packaging, marketing, brand developing and maintaining a profitable business unit

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following

   Process and analyse wine juice and vineyard samples
Responsible for reoccurring wine maintenance through lab analysis
Evaluate current quality control standards and protocols
Manage and document QC standards and processes
Oversee and monitor fermentation from start to finish
Maintain good relationships with suppliers and service providers
Collaborate with grape suppliers and owners to perform bench trials and create and evaluate the finished wine before it’s bottled.
Provide innovative suggestions for our winemaking program.
Oversee packaging of wine products.
Sourcing of bulk wines for internal bottling needs as may be
Financial Management of the business unit
Marketing of the entirie South African wine portfolio
Extensive International marketing travels,domestic and International

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

– 5+ years Winemaking experience.
– Degree in Winemaking/Viticulture
– Relevant Business Qualification (would be preferred)
– Ability to work independently and be a problem solver.
– Ability to work long hours and weekends if necessary in order to get the job done.
