Winemaker Vacancy Steenberg Cape Town

We seek to appoint an experienced (5 years plus) and resourceful winemaker who wishes to build on their existing reputation for excellence in winemaking by both replicating and developing our superior brand offering. Ideally, the successful candidate will have excellent cellar experience along with modern wine development skills and abilities and have been responsible for the development of a range of varietals from vineyard to finished product.

Job Requirements

Take responsibility for all vintages, continue ethos of excellence
Lead winemaking process
Manage supplies, equipment maintenance, harvest interns, barrel and bottling budget, ferment/barrel/vintage documentation.
Work closely with Farm Manager, vineyard crews, Business Manager, Marketing and events team.
Host events and tastings when required.
Represent the winery with core partners, clients, and the wine industry.

Professional communication (written and verbal) as well as personal interfacing skills, resulting in a high level of credibility, trust and respect with both internal and external stakeholders (trade customers and consumers)
Excellent presentation skills
creative and entrepreneurial mindset
A passionate and positively disposed individual
Valid Code 08 driver’s license without endorsements
Basic computer skills (MS Office suite – Excel/Word and Outlook)
Solid business acumen and understanding
A passion for customer service
A high level of energy as this position involves working long, flexible hours, including some evenings, weekend and public holidays when required.
Prepared to travel when required
